A massive logging project was just approved in Montana's Bitterroot National Forest — right in the heart of grizzly bear habitat. The Bitterroot region holds one of the best opportunities for grizzly bear recovery in the lower 48, but a 135,000-acre commercial logging project could severely stymie their progress. Grizzly bears need vast, connected landscapes where they can roam, forage, den and raise cubs safely. Meanwhile, this project threatens to log, burn and bulldoze their home.
