“Blessed is the nation whose God is the LORD, the people whom he has chosen as his heritage!” -Psalm 33:12 Happy Independence Day! Today we celebrate 250 years of our nation’s history! While there are many faults, I am deeply thankful to live in a nation where I can proclaim the name of Jesus, Lord of all, Savior of the world. Yet I will proclaim it even if it were not so, for an even greater blessing than earthly freedom is belonging to the people of God through Christ. When people submit themselves to the LORD, blessing follows, for His ways are good, just, and full of mercy. God is the source of truth, righteousness, love, and peace. Apart from Him, every pursuit ultimately proves empty, unable to satisfy the deepest needs of the human heart or to bring lasting justice. May we be a people who seek the LORD and walk in His ways.
