Yesterday we issued an emergency disaster declaration for the Big Sheep Fire burning in Huerfano County, which is at more than 1,000 acres. With that declaration, the state is now managing five state-responsibility fires, including the Snyder, Aspen Acres, Gold Mountain, and Willow Fires.
I’m urging everyone to follow their local fire restrictions and help us prevent the next wildfire. While we are proud of the incredible firefighting assets we’ve invested in, our hardworking men and women on the front lines are already going above and beyond to protect our communities and this state we love. Don’t create more work for them.
