Dominate the Roxzone in Hyrox
Most athletes think the Roxzone is recovery.
It’s not.
It’s free time.
And the athletes who use it well gain seconds at every station.
Here are my top 3 tips:
1. Don’t mentally shut off.
As soon as you finish a station, your brain wants to relax.
Don’t let it.
The Roxzone is where you should be thinking:
➡️ Where’s my next station?
➡️ What’s my game plan?
➡️ What’s my target pace?
Stay engaged.
2. Know the course layout before race day.
Walk the venue if you can.
Know exactly:
• Where each station starts
• Where you enter and exit
• Which direction you’re running
The less you have to think, the faster you’ll move.
3. Run the Roxzone hard.
This isn’t a walk to your next station.
It’s part of the race.
Many athletes unknowingly give away 30–60+ seconds simply by jogging or switching off mentally between stations.
Treat every step as free speed.
The Roxzone isn’t where you recover.
It’s where you separate yourself from the competition.
