A college student built what could be the fastest RC jet in the world… from his dorm room. ✈️
The aircraft, called Reaper, was designed by aerospace builder Tomas Salvo using a 5 kg carbon‑fiber airframe and a 250 N turbojet engine. Salvo says it can reach speeds of up to 500 mph, putting it among the fastest RC jets ever built.
What makes this project remarkable is the setting. Without a professional workshop, Salvo designed the molds, manufactured the carbon‑fiber components, and completed the composite layups himself right from his college dorm.
The jet only carries enough fuel for about two minutes at full power, but it proves how far individual engineers can push aerospace technology with skill and determination.
The project even caught Elon Musk’s attention, who suggested launching it from a mountain to test whether it could approach supersonic speeds during a dive.
