Sycamore alumna Willa Beatrice Brown was a trailblazer who didn't just make history—she changed the future! ✈️ 💙 After graduating from Indiana State Teachers College in 1927, Brown became a pioneering aviator, educator, and civil rights advocate. She was among the first African American women to earn a U.S. pilot's license and the first American woman to hold both a pilot's license and an aircraft mechanic's license. Through the Coffey School of Aeronautics, Brown trained hundreds of pilots, many of whom went on to become members of the famed Tuskegee Airmen during World War II.
