Ottawa Paramedic Service says emergency crews responded to the 1500 block of Alta Vista Drive at approximately 11:22 a.m. After arriving, paramedics found the girl on the ground beside the building. She was assessed at the scene before being rushed to CHEO in critical condition. Officials say the child is younger than a teenager. Witnesses described the incident as heartbreaking. One resident said she saw the child on a chair moments before the fall, while another reported seeing two children playing on the balcony beforehand.
