This Wasn’t The Canada Day Anyone Expected 😳⛈️ The intense Canada Day thunderstorm brought more than just lightning and heavy rain, with flooding reported along the westbound lanes of Highway 417 near Bayshore. Videos submitted to ShottawaTV show vehicles slowly making their way through standing water as the storm moved across the city. The storm also produced frequent lightning, torrential rainfall and localized power outages in several parts of Ottawa, creating difficult driving conditions throughout the afternoon. If you’re travelling this evening, slow down, leave extra space between vehicles and never attempt to drive through water if you can’t safely judge its depth.
