❗️Ford didn’t just beat Ferrari at Le Mans in 1966, it kept the dinner receipt from the victory party.
Around 200 people reportedly gathered at Le Chanteclair in New York on June 21, 1966 to celebrate Ford’s first overall Le Mans win, and the surviving bill shows 453 individual drinks, 68 bottles, and one cake.
Ford’s official archive story says the party paperwork included the invitation, bar tab, wine, champagne, cocktails, and even a cigar bill, which makes the whole thing feel less like a myth and more like a real night after a war was won.
Ford’s win was historic because Bruce McLaren and Chris Amon took first in the Number 2 Ford GT40 Mk II, and Ford swept the podium in first, second, and third.
The total bill came to $2,800.03 after tax and gratuity, which is roughly $29,000 in 2026 money.
Would you rather own the GT40 victory photo or the original $2,800.03 party receipt?
