We are celebrating today loudly and fully and with our whole family. And we celebrate it in a very specific kind of way. The kind of way where our marriage — and therefore our family — exists because this country ruled that love is love under the law. The kind of way where science and medicine and donor conception and IVF gave us five children we might not otherwise have. The kind of way where being Jewish in America has always meant knowing that freedom is precious and never guaranteed. We know how special this country can be and used to be.
