Antoine Kassis, a cousin of Bashar al-Assad, was sentenced today to 30 years in prison for conspiracy to commit narco-terrorism. He used high-level Assad regime connections to broker a $14 million deal trading military-grade weapons for 500 kilograms of cocaine tied to the Colombian ELN. He is the second Assad affiliate convicted in the United States, and he will not be the last.
