This year’s Fourth of July underway welcomed guests and shipmates from across the country, selected through our annual lottery. Known as “Old Ironsides,” USS Constitution earned her legendary nickname during the War of 1812 when British cannonballs were seen bouncing off her wooden hull. Undefeated in battle, she defeated or captured 33 enemy vessels while defending American sea lanes during the Barbary Wars and the War of 1812.
