What started as a custom metal vase project has grown into something even more creative. In her spare time after class, one of our Fundamentals of Fabrication students has been cutting dozens of sheet metal petals, forming them on the press brake, and TIG welding them together into a one-of-a-kind metal flower arrangement. It’s still a work in progress, but it’s a great example of how the fabrication skills learned in class can be applied to artistic metalwork just as easily as they are to automotive, manufacturing, and industrial projects.
