One of the questions I get asked all the time is why I do the same routine before every pitch🤔 The answer is actually pretty simple. It's not because I think it's lucky or that I'm "superstitious"❌ It's because it gives me something that never changes...🙂‍↔️ The game is constantly changing. The count changes. The score changes. Your emotions change. Sometimes you feel great. Sometimes you don't. Sometimes you just struck somebody out. Sometimes you just gave up a home run. If your confidence is built on how you feel in those moments, it's going to move up and down all game long. That's why I have a routine. Every time I step on the rubber, I know exactly what I'm going to do. I take a breath. I gather myself. I remind myself what I'm trying to accomplish. Then I commit to the pitch. That routine tells my mind it's time to compete. It slows the game down. It keeps me from rushing after a mistake. It keeps me from getting too high after a big moment. It brings me back to the present🙏 ...
