This looks really bad but i swear it’s pretty straightforward. This usually happens when the digit gets jammed into hyperextension, often with a slight twist. That force tears the supporting structures around the joint, including the volar plate and sometimes the collateral ligaments, allowing the joint to dislocate. This isn’t medical advice and I’m not telling you to do this but what I would do after the reduction and the joint is back in place, it needs to be assessed for stability, tendon integrity, sensation, circulation, and associated fractures. X-rays before and after reduction help confirm proper alignment and rule out an avulsion fracture or other bony injury. #athletictrainer #sportsmedicine #athletictraining #sportsrehab #atc
