We’ve turned the table into a stage.
We worry about the centerpieces.
We stress over the presentation.
We perform when we should be present.
But the table was never meant to be a place of perfection.
It was designed to be a place of connection.
In the early church, they didn’t wait for a five-course meal or a curated aesthetic.
They simply opened their doors.
"Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts." : Acts 2:46
When we prioritize performance, we miss the person sitting across from us.
When we prioritize presence, we find Christ in the conversation.
It’s okay if the soup is simple.
It’s okay if the bread is store-bought.
What matters is the sincerity of heart.
The table is sacred not because of what is on it, but because of who is around it.
Let’s stop hosting and start welcoming.
Who is someone you can invite to your table this week, just as you are?
