Somewhere along the way, women’s fitness became more about avoiding things than doing them. Don’t lift too heavy.
Don’t do HIIT.
Don’t let your heart rate get too high.
Don’t “spike your cortisol.” Lately, social media has made cortisol the villain. But here’s the truth: your cortisol is SUPPOSED to rise during your workout. That’s the response that helps your body adapt to the challenge of a hard workout. It’s how your body builds endurance and resiliency. The bigger issue isn’t a workout that temporarily raises your cortisol. It’s living in a constant state of stress, under-eating, poor sleep, and never giving your body the recovery it needs. I’ve watched the pendulum swing so many times. Women don’t need another extreme, we need balance. Which fitness trend do you hope disappears next?👇 #womensfitness #cortisollevels #wellnesstrends #healthylifestyle
