A real light bulb moment 💡 Look up the next time you visit the Detroit Zoo to see just one of our many green initiatives at work. In June, we converted 70 parking lot lights to energy-efficient LED fixtures. These lights consume up to 70 percent less energy and do not need to be replaced as often as traditional bulbs. They also shine downward, making them DarkSky approved. By minimizing our light pollution, we are helping to provide birds with a safe passage over the Zoo. Excessive light from cities can often confuse migrating birds and put them at risk. Be part of the dark sky movement by reducing outdoor lighting on your property.
