AFCON R16 REVIEW A round of 16 full of surprises came to a close last night with both games going to penalties. Mo Salah slotted home Egypt’s decisive fifth penalty against Ivory Coast to take his nation into the QF while Equatorial Guinea came out on top in their shootout with Mali. Elsewhere in the round, Comoros put up an incredible fight against hosts Cameroon with left back Chaker Alhadur playing the entire 90 minutes in goal for the minnows. Comoros may have lost the match but they leave with their heads held high. Achraf Hakimi’s stunning free kick helped Morocco to a win over Malawi while Tunisia shocked the much fancied Nigerians to progress into the last 8. Sadie Mane was at the centre of the action (for and and for bad) as Senegal saw off Cape Verde while surprise package Gambia secured their QF spot with a win over Guinea. Bertrand Traore’s Burkina Faso won a dramatic penalty shootout against Gabon to seal their place in the next round. #WeTalkFootball
