The world’s 20 cities most vulnerable to heat risk ⚠️
Extreme heat is becoming one of the biggest risks facing cities around the world - but temperature alone doesn’t tell the full story.
Researchers from Oxford's Smith School of Enterprise and the Environment analysed 205 cities worldwide to identify where people are most vulnerable to heat risk, taking into account not only heat exposure, but also vulnerability and the resources communities have to cope.
The study found that more than 95% of the highest-risk cities are in South and Southeast Asia and Sub-Saharan Africa, highlighting where adaptation efforts are needed most.
