Gone are the backyard bungalow bars, the spontaneous nights, and that weird Austin magic where every patio felt like a house party. Now the skyline screams luxury condos, investment portfolios, and “$19 ranch water, please.” The cranes stayed longer than most relationships. The drinks got pricier. The crowds got thinner. Even the tech bros stopped buying rounds because AI took their jobs. If you’re visiting Austin looking for the Rainey everyone told you about… you’re about five years too late.
