If you’re already doing reverse lunges, try adding a deficit.
Standing on a small plate or step increases your range of motion, allowing you to lower your back knee farther and create a deeper stretch through the glute and quad.
Why that matters:
✔️ More range of motion = more muscle fibers challenged
✔️ Greater stretch under load can lead to better muscle growth
✔️ Improves hip and ankle mobility while building single-leg strength
✔️ Reinforces balance, stability, and control—qualities that carry over to squats, deadlifts, running, and everyday movement
The key is to control the lowering phase, keep your front foot planted, and drive through your whole foot as you stand.
More weight isn’t always the answer, nor does everyone need a deficit. Sometimes better execution and a greater range of motion are what unlock your next level of strength and muscle growth.
