A Grand Canyon river guide just completed a record-breaking 2,400-mile solo row across the Pacific Ocean 🌊🚣‍♀️ Kelsey Pfendler departed from Monterey, California, on May 21 and arrived in Honolulu after spending 43 days, 17 hours, 55 minutes, and 59 seconds at sea. She became the first American woman and the youngest woman to complete the solo row from California to Hawaii. Her finishing time also appears to be faster than the previous men’s and women’s records for the route, pending official certification. Kelsey’s journey also raised awareness for whalefoundation, a nonprofit that supports the health and well-being of Grand Canyon river guides. After receiving support from the foundation during one of the most difficult times in her life, she set out to challenge herself while giving back to the Grand Canyon river community.
