Here in the Midwest, we understand farming and want to preserve our prime farmland. In our home state of Minnesota, over 47% of our total land is USDA Prime Farmland! Of that, only 0.03% is currently being used for solar to harvest the sun.🌞 That's less than the amount of land used by golf courses, abandoned prime farmland, and lost to suburban sprawl! 🌱 America depends on land to grow food, build communities, and power our lives. Responsible land use means balancing all of those needs.⚖️ Solar land leases allow farmers to maintain ownership of their land while diversifying their ag portfolio with a flexible land use option and allowing the land under the panels to rest. That's a win for our farmers and the rural communities we call home! Find out more about how solar projects fit into agricultural land use in states across the U.S. with this new interactive map from SEIA.
