What’s rarer than a dinosaur? A baby dinosaur. Here, Sotheby’s Cassandra Hatton takes a closer look at two remarkable nestling hadrosaurid dinosaurs. They have been preserved for 77 million years and have now made their way to #SothebysNewYork. These specimens were found together with their eggshells near Havre, Montana. Nestlings are extremely rare to find because dinosaur babies were often preyed on by other larger species. It’s likely that these nestlings were buried by a landslide or other environmental event that led to their fossilization. Today, these fossils allow scientists to unlock new discoveries on how dinosaurs aged and developed in their lifetimes.
