Another incredible week of competition across the Bay Area! We’re excited to celebrate this week’s Charlie Wedemeyer Memorial Coaches of the Week and Players of the Week, proudly presented by U.S. Bank. Congratulations to this week’s honorees: Rachel Schmidt of Amador Valley High School, our #49ersFLAG Player of the Week. The senior free safety had three interceptions against Dublin as the Dons’ defense pitched a shutout in an 18-2 win. On one of Schmidt’s picks, she pitched the ball to a teammate, who ended up scoring a defensive TD on the play. Jayden Duarte of Alisal High School, our #49ersPREP Player of the Week. Duarte accounted for five touchdowns and 339 yards on 25 carries in a standout performance. We’re also proud to recognize our Coaches of the Week: Jason Knowles of Menlo Atherton High School, Flag Coach of the Week. Coach Knowles led Menlo Atherton to a 9-6 victory over Mills.
