Shadow came into my life over 13 years ago as a tiny adopted barn kitten. She and her orange brother were inseparable, and when I moved across the country, they made the journey with me. During a stop in Colorado, the unimaginable happened. Her brother slipped through the tiniest crack in a window and disappeared. We searched for days, and even returned year after year hoping we’d somehow find him, but we never did. Since then, Shadow has made it clear she’s a one-cat kind of girl. We’ve tried bringing other cats into the family, but no one could ever replace her brother.
