For much of its 20-year existence, Beaverdale Books’ popularity has conflicted with its size. The bookstore, nestled among other small businesses, occupied a space barely equivalent to a small corner of a sprawling Barnes & Noble. Beaverdale Books has doubled its sales floor this summer, taking over a neighboring law office and readying the space for a new children’s book section and a party, scheduled for July 11, to celebrate the start of its third decade. The store has persisted through the rise of Amazon and e-readers and the COVID-19 pandemic to enjoy a current wave of independent bookstore popularity that is encouraging rapid growth in the number of stores nationwide.
