Should Boston bars stay open until 3 am for the World Cup?
A new proposal would allow Massachusetts cities and towns to extend last call from 2 a.m. to 3 a.m. during the 2026 FIFA World Cup and America 250 celebrations.
The bill would also allow communities to permit drinking in certain public spaces, including World Cup watch parties.
Supporters say it would help local businesses cash in on one of the biggest sporting events in the world, while giving fans more places to watch and celebrate.
The proposal is still working its way through the legislature, but with World Cup matches starting in just a few weeks, the clock is ticking.
