The Seaport may be getting a little more surreal. Massport has selected a proposal for a giant seasonal immersive dome at 492 Summer Street, across from the Omni Boston Hotel. The concept is not a permanent building, but more of a large enclosed dome experience with 360-degree projection technology for art installations, music, visual events, festivals, and community programming. Basically, Boston may be getting its own version of an immersive Sphere-style attraction, just a little more Seaport and a little less Vegas. The project is still in the early planning stages, but it could turn one of the neighborhood’s vacant waterfront sites into a new entertainment destination.
