Boston, this one’s an early one. In the pre-dawn hours of Tuesday, March 3, the full Worm Moon will slip into Earth’s shadow during a total lunar eclipse. It’s the last total “Blood Moon” anywhere on Earth until New Year’s Eve 2028. But here’s the catch: Boston will not get the full deep-red, high-in-the-sky moment. On the East Coast, the moon will be very low in the western sky and will set during totality. That means you’ll only catch part of the red phase before it dips below the horizon. Here’s when to look: • Penumbral begins: 3:44 a.m. • Partial eclipse: 4:50 a.m. • Totality begins: 6:04 a.m. • Moonset happens during totality Totality technically lasts 58 minutes, but in Boston you’ll only see a portion of it before sunrise light and moonset cut the show short.
