The Izestee cultivator makes aeroponics visible, and the physics behind it is genuinely elegant. Roots do not really “drink” soil. They absorb dissolved mineral ions, and crucially, they breathe. Root cells respire aerobically, burning sugars with oxygen to power the ATP-driven ion pumps that haul nutrients across cell membranes. In compacted soil or submerged hydroponics, oxygen diffuses sluggishly through water films and roots often sit half-starved of it. Suspend them in open air and they bathe in roughly 21% oxygen, so those pumps run flat out.
