July 10th is National Kitten Day! While we don’t have any letterpress cuts of adorable kittens, we do have some peculiar cats in the Lewis Winter Collection. For today, Channey letterpress printed an electrotype (copy of a woodcut) that depicts a blinking cat that was made sometime in the 1890s. This was printed with blue rubber base ink using our Washington hand press, which was made in 1852. #nationalkittenday #kittens #SacHistoryMuseum #museum #printing
