July 7th is World Chocolate Day! For today, Howard letterpress printed a woodcut, which depict a cacao pod, from the Lewis Winter Collection. This hand carved woodcut was made by Lewis Winter in the 1890s. In the video, Howard also discussed his favorite chocolate. This was printed with blue rubber base ink, using a Washington hand press. Lewis Winter had a wood and photo engraving business at 627 J Street in Sacramento from 1888 to 1910.
