The Trump administration just gutted the Endangered Species Act. For endangered species already hanging on by a thread, this could be a death blow. Habitat destruction is the leading cause of extinction. These protections have helped keep forests standing, rivers flowing, and the wild places countless animals need to survive from being destroyed. Now, those safeguards are being stripped away—opening the door to more logging, mining, oil and gas drilling, and other destructive projects in the very places endangered wildlife depends on for food, shelter, and survival. Extinction isn’t just about losing a species. It’s about losing a piece of our natural world forever. The Center for Biological Diversity won’t stand by and watch that happen.
