The MLB scoring rules make no sense sometimes. In Jacob Misiorowski’s game against the Reds, an error kept the inning alive, but because the runners originally reached on errors, the runs that scored afterward were ruled unearned. He gave up five runs, but only one counted as earned. Then today, Cristopher Sánchez got the opposite treatment. Trea Turner made a terrible throw that allowed a run to score, but it still counted as an earned run because the official scorer can’t assume a double play would have happened. I know you can’t assume a double play, but it’s still weird and honestly a dumb rule. It feels like Misiorowski benefited from the rule, while Sánchez got punished by it. - follow ( slugger.report ) for insane baseball content - #baseball #mlb #baseballplays #jacobmisiorowski #christophersanchez
