The second my son realized his duck was missing, I went straight into mom mode. No way was I going home without doing everything I could to find the one thing that brings him comfort. We turned the car around, retraced every step, I replayed every video on my phone trying to figure out where it disappeared, called Cheesecake Factory more than once, and refused to give up. To someone else it might’ve looked like I was doing the most, but if your child has a comfort item, especially an autistic child, you understand. Seeing his face when they finally walked out with his duck made every second of the search worth it.
