Step into one of the world’s most breathtaking libraries. 📚✨
Completed in 1726, the Österreichische Nationalbibliothek (Austrian National Library) was once the court library of the Habsburgs and is now home to around 2.5 million books, with collections dating all the way back to the 14th century.
Beyond its magnificent Baroque State Hall, you’ll find incredible collections of maps, prints, portraits, music, theater, and ancient papyri, along with two stunning Venetian Baroque globes, one of the Earth and one of the sky, each measuring over a meter in diameter.
And here’s a fun detail to watch for: library employees still use concealed passageways hidden behind certain bookcases.
