Story Book 857: ๐๏ธ THE 14TH DALAI LAMA (Born 1935)
A global symbol of compassion, peace, and kindness.
Born on 6 July 1935 in Taktser, Tibet, as Lhamo Thondup, he was recognized at the age of two as the 14th Dalai Lama and began a life dedicated to learning, meditation, and serving others.
From childhood, he received years of traditional Buddhist education, studying philosophy, ethics, compassion, and mindfulness.
In 1959, following political upheaval in Tibet, he left his homeland and found refuge in India, where he settled in Dharamshala, Himachal Pradesh.
Despite losing his homeland, he continued to share a message of hope rather than hatred, compassion rather than anger, and dialogue rather than violence.
๐ In 1989, he was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for his commitment to nonviolence and peaceful solutions.
