At just 14 years old, Janet Criss of Castro Valley, California, has earned the title of the No. 1 middle school sprinter in both California and the United States. Even more impressive, she recently shattered three meet records at the AAU West Coast National Championship and won the 100-meter Emerging Elite division at Nike Outdoor Nationals, competing against some of the nation’s top high school athletes. But Janet’s success goes far beyond the track. The rising freshman is also an honor student, serves in student government, and plays the violin, proving that excellence isn’t limited to one lane.
