The sky over Ottawa isn’t fog… it’s wildfire smoke‼️😳
Environment Canada has extended the Air Quality Warning for Ottawa-Gatineau as smoke from 182 active wildfires in northern Quebec continues to blanket the region, creating hazy skies and reducing visibility.
The city’s Air Quality Health Index reached 5 (moderate risk) Sunday morning, with officials advising residents to limit time outdoors and consider postponing sports, exercise, and other outdoor activities.
Children, seniors, pregnant people, and those with heart or lung conditions are especially encouraged to take precautions.
Smoke exposure can cause headaches, coughing, irritated eyes and throat, and breathing difficulties. The warning also covers much of eastern Ontario, while Quebec remains under a widespread open fire ban as crews continue battling hundreds of active wildfires.
Air quality is expected to gradually improve later Sunday into Monday. Thoughts on this⁉️🤔⤵️
