Disguising the ball toss is a game-changer—placing it just behind my head allows me to hit a flat, slice, or kick serve all from the same toss. Juan pointed out that my toss was too far from my body, making it easier for opponents to read. Although, I do find it easier to apply easier kick the element of disguise will outweigh the easy reading of the ball. The key to an effective serve at any level is keeping that element of disguise.
