You finally start speaking in a meeting, someone jumps in, and the conversation moves on before you’ve finished.
Very frustrating! This is common when English isn’t your first language. You know what you want to say, but you’re not always sure how to get attention again without sounding rude.
Here are three more phrases for English meetings:
🔵 Can I pick up where I left off?
🔵 Before we leave this, there’s one more thing I’d like to add.
🔵 I haven’t quite finished what I was saying.
The first works well after a short interruption. The second is useful when the group is about to change topic. The third is slightly firmer, so use it when someone interrupts you before you’ve finished.
You don’t need big words or long sentences. Have a few phrases ready so you can come back and finish what you were saying.
