❗️The end of an era is here as Yamaha prepares to retire the legendary YZF-R6 after a 27-year run. First launched in 1999, the R6 became one of the defining 600cc supersport motorcycles, famous for its razor-sharp handling and screaming 599cc inline-four engine. The street-legal model had already disappeared after the 2020 model year, but Yamaha continued offering the motorcycle as the circuit-only R6 Race Base. Yamaha Japan will now accept final made-to-order reservations during two purchase windows running through July and August 2026. The final version retains traction control, a quickshifter, and R1-derived front suspension and brakes, with no major mechanical changes from the previous Race Base model. Production will end after these confirmed orders, with the last bikes scheduled for release in Japan on February 26, 2027.
