Barking Dog Leads Deputy to a Fugitive from Justice Around 3:30 a.m. on Friday, one of our deputies was conducting patrol checks near Newhall Avenue and Sierra Highway when he heard a dog barking continuously from inside a vehicle parked at the Park & Ride. Concerned for the dog’s welfare, the deputy stopped to check on the situation. As he approached the vehicle, he noticed the vehicle’s registration was expired. After making contact with the male adult driver, the deputy discovered the man was in possession of methamphetamine. During the investigation, the man provided multiple names in an apparent attempt to conceal his identity. Despite his efforts, the deputy determined the man’s true identity and discovered the 43-year-old was a fugitive from justice with a no bail felony warrant out of Texas. Texas law enforcement was contacted and confirmed they would extradite him. The man was arrested and transported to the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station jail, where he is awaiting...
