Your ankle has MANY directions of motion. Most people train zero of them, and that’s why your deep squat feels capped COOOKED!
Ankle stiffness that feels like glass is rarely age. Inversion and eversion, the sideways roll your shoes never ask for, tend to switch off first, and the joint capsule tightens around whatever range you skip. Once the tibialis anterior and peroneals stay quiet, a step off a curb or a deep squat can feel like it hits a wall.
This circuit trains the ranges you’re missing:
1. Seated ankle circles, 10 each way
2. Banded inversion and eversion, 10 slow reps a side
3. Loaded dorsiflexion lunge, knee over toes, heel down
4. Single leg balance to lock it back in
Most people can do this without socks, barefoot actually helps you feel the edges of the range. Comment BASICS and I’ll send the 4-week Grade 1 Mobility follow-along, $29, built for every level.
