She met my grandfather, Lamar, in 1962. They married in 1964, and the rest is history—beginning a beautiful marriage that lasted 42 years. Decades later, my mom Tavia was a 19-year-old intern in the Chiefs PR department. At the season kickoff luncheon, a “nice guy named Clark” walked up and started a conversation…and just like that, my parents’ story began much like my grandparents’ had. A whole generation apart. And then there’s Derek and me—two families, both rooted in this team, brought together once again by the Chiefs.
