Long before Arrowhead, my grandmother Norma was a school teacher who sold tickets and hosted for the Dallas Texans, the team that would later become the Kansas City Chiefs. She met my grandfather, Lamar, in 1962. They married in 1964, and the rest is historyābeginning a beautiful marriage that lasted 42 years.
Decades later, my mom Tavia was a 19-year-old intern in the Chiefs PR department. At the season kickoff luncheon, a ānice guy named Clarkā walked up and started a conversationā¦and just like that, my parentsā story began much like my grandparentsā had. A whole generation apart.
And then thereās Derek and meātwo families, both rooted in this team, brought together once again by the Chiefs.
