DISCIPLINED REBELLION Modifi described this month’s theme as “a study in disciplined rebellion… where outlaw intent meets geisha precision and the spectacle of the circus is distilled into ritual.” The more I sat with those words, the more they made sense. A desperado isn’t simply someone who breaks the rules. It’s someone who no longer asks permission to exist. These women aren’t performing for applause. They aren’t chasing approval. They move with quiet confidence because this is simply who they are—with or without an audience. The circus becomes a stage, but not because they need one.
