With the first anniversary of the devastating Eaton and Palisades fires on January 7 approaching, many in our community may notice painful memories and emotions resurfacing – for adults and children alike – even when life appears to have moved forward. Sometimes these reactions take us by surprise. It’s not uncommon to experience trauma-related stress responses, including anxiety, irritability, nightmares, or a general sense of unease. Triggers can come from news coverage, or from sights or smells associated with the fires – and may affect each person differently.
