Summer in Minnesota means mosquito season is here! Our partners at the Metropolitan Mosquito Control District (MMCD) found mosquitoes with West Nile virus in June. This means it's time to make sure to protect yourself and your family from bites for the rest of the summer. MMCD helps track West Nile virus in the Twin Cities area by identifying mosquito species that can carry it, testing them for the virus, and recommending control in areas where it is found. ✅ Protect yourself with these tips: • Use an Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)-registered insect repellent • Wear loose, long clothes • Treat clothes and gear with permethrin • Use A/C and screens to keep mosquitoes out • Dump standing water around your home #FightTheBite #MosquitoPrevention health.state.mn.us/diseases/mosquitoborne/prevention.html#environment
